The time has come!!! DDSD has released the rates and the 2013 standards that began with some budgets on May 2013. These can be found at:  HYPERLINK "http://nmhealth.org/ddsd/index.htm" http://nmhealth.org/ddsd/index.htm. Due to these changes and budget cuts we have had to make the following changes. We will be having mandatory Family Living Provider meetings over the next few weeks to get into more detail. Substitute Care ~ Once an individuals new budget is approved under the new waiver system they will only be allowed 750 hours of Substitute Care. With the new standards put into effect on May 1, 2013 individuals are allowed 750 hours which are bundled with their family living allotment. This works out to 2.2 hours per budget day (62.5 per month). The 2013 standards state that family living cannot be billed for more than 170 days per six months. Because substitute care is bundled in the family living days we cannot allow more than 375 hours of substitute care to be billed in each half of the new budget year. We suggest that you follow the 62.5 hours per month rule to avoid going over the allowed use. A respite provider will not be paid for hours that go above 375 during the first 6 months of a budget. If there is an extended need for SubCare in a particular period you will need to notify your service coordinator. The reason for this is in the event an individual decides to leave our agency but has used all their SubCare but we have only billed for a few months we have paid out the difference without being compensated. If this happens we will deduct the overage from the Family Living Providers final check. Nursing ~ should be added to the new budgets for all individuals. At the ISP meetings the case manager should be adding 12 hours of additional nursing to the individuals budget. This will be to measure the amount of nursing used by every individual to see if they need more nursing than the 12 hours allotted in the past. Family Living ~ Due to the cuts in family living and substitute care we will have to reduce the monthly stipend by $100. We looked into several ways to avoid this but while funding was cut expenses remain the same. We will start the reduction in the first September payday cycle. Your September 25th paycheck will be reduced by $50 (Since we will be paying for September 1st thru 15th). For those paid monthly your check will be reduced by $100 on the 10th of October. Monthly documentation is required in order for us to bill Medicaid for Family Living Services. While we know that you are completing the work daily the state requires that it is documented. Think of your monthly paperwork as a timecard, if you dont punch it you wont be paid. Complete paperwork must be turned in at your monthly home visit. If it is not turned in we will need to hold your check till we receive it. In the unfortunate event you decide to or need to leave our agency we ask that you give 30 days notice to give us all time to finalize billing and paperwork for a smooth transition. Check Delivery ~ Due to new providers needing to take all trainings within the first 90 days of hire we will no longer be able to offer Direct Deposit or mail checks until training is complete and all documentation needed is turned in. Once this is complete direct deposit will be available. Coming into the office will allow face to face communication with us and our providers. If trainings are not complete within the time allotted we will hold any pending checks and providers will not be paid till training is complete. Training ~ We cannot stress enough how important maintaining your training is for the health and safety of the individuals we serve as well as keeping our providers informed of any changes and updates. If you receive a call or a letter from the office regarding training or anything else for that matter it is necessary to respond in a timely manner usually within 24 hours. As stated earlier if trainings are not up to date we will have to hold payment and work cannot continue until the training is completed. Please call the office as soon as possible to save a space in our Family Living Provider training happening at our office every Wednesday evening starting August 21, 2013. We will schedule a Hobbs training that will combine with trainings already scheduled there. We will also schedule a weekend meeting if the need is great enough. This training will be added to the required trainings to keep you informed. The next 18 months will be a time of major changes to the DD waiver system and we want to keep you as informed as we can.
